Devin Haney made a cryptic post on X, telling his followers, “I’m coming,” but not elaborating on his meaning. He has no fights scheduled, and his father, Bill Haney’s attempts to entice Ryan Garcia into making a rematch were blown out of the water. Ryan isn’t interested for obvious reasons.

Bill posted a clip of Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) working out, and he looked in good shape for a welterweight fighter. In his post on Instagram, he said they’re coming back for “everything we came in the game to get.”

We’re assuming that Bill is talking about coming to get the big-money fights, but Devin hasn’t many options besides a rematch with Ryan Garcia. None of the fighters at welterweight are popular, and the same goes for the 140-lb division.

Haney needs to consider moving up to welterweight and being selective about the opponents he chooses to avoid getting beaten up like he was against Ryan. There are plenty of good options at welterweight for Haney to fight for a confidence-booster match. However, selling that type of fight on PPV will be difficult.

So, depending on which promotional company he decides to work with for his next fight, Haney may need to be open to fighting on regular DAZN, ESPN, or Amazon Prime Video.

It doesn’t look good for Devin to return from his loss to Ryan. Fans don’t believe in Haney anymore, and his lack of power and punch resistance could limit his chances for success in any weight class. If possible, Haney could return to 135 and use his massive size advantage over the fighters in that weight class to make some good money, fighting Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and Keyshawn Davis.

Re-signing with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom would give Haney a chance to fight Shakur Stevenson, but it’s unlikely that he can get down to 135. If he did, it might put him in the hospital, taking off all the water weight and shutting down his kidneys.

“The world didn’t deny the skills; well, now, they can’t question the heart. We are back for everything we came in the game to get,” said Bill Haney on Instagram, talking about his son, Devin.
