Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has given his “total green light” to a move to Chelsea, Fabrizio Romano has revealed, as the 24-year-old’s exit from Old Trafford moves one step closer.
The two clubs have been locked in negotiations over the potential move this week with the London side wanting to agree a “permanent deal” for the English winger.
Juventus had appeared to be the frontrunners to sign Sancho but Chelsea have leapfrogged the Italian club in the race for the 24-year-old.
The Old Lady are unable to match the financial requirements United are demanding for Sancho while the player himself has expressed a preference to move to London over Turin.
Romano describes Juventus as “in complete stand-by since yesterday.”
And now the Italian transfer expert reveals Sancho has communicated his “green light” to Chelsea with the 24-year-old “keen on joining” the London club before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Tweet: “Jadon Sancho gives total green light to Chelsea move, he’s keen on joining #CFC project. Talks are taking place between Chelsea and Man United, deal currently ON. Juventus in complete stand-by since yesterday.”
Romano contends “talks are taking place between Chelsea and Man United” with a report relayed by The Peoples Person revealing a deal was “edging closer” to being complete.
Stamford Bridge officials have been negotiating with Sancho over personal terms and this update of a ‘green light’ is likely to mean an agreement had been struck between both parties.
The winger’s wage packet at Old Trafford – reported to be as high as £300,000 a week including bonuses – has been a hindrance to him leaving the club this summer.
Juventus were unable to match it with their proposed loan offer while Borussia Dortmund, who Sancho returned to on loan for the second half of last season, did not follow up their interest at the beginning of the summer.
The fact that Romano reveals Sancho has signalled his intention to join Chelsea suggest this major obstacle to his departure from United has been overcome.
It very much feels a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ the 24-year-old will complete a dramatic return to London today, bringing an end to a torrid three years in Manchester.
