Manchester United are reportedly looking at Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as a potential solution to their left-back woes.

According to Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, United’s interest in the young Hungarian defender is genuine as the club seeks to bolster its squad ahead of the new season.

Last season was challenging for United’s left-back options, with Luke Shaw managing only 12 Premier League appearances due to injuries, while Tyrell Malacia was sidelined for 11 months with a knee injury.

With doubts over their availability, United are keen to find a reliable left-back, and Kerkez has emerged as a viable candidate.

Kerkez had an impressive debut season with Bournemouth, earning praise for his performances. His journey began in youth football across Serbia, Austria, and Hungary, eventually leading to a move to AC Milan at 17, following a personal call from Paolo Maldini.

However, limited first-team opportunities at Milan prompted a transfer to AZ Alkmaar, where he established himself with three goals in 33 Eredivisie games.

Romano confirmed United’s serious interest but also noted that the club is considering other options for the left-back position.

“Manchester United’s interest is genuine, so I think Kerkez could be one of the options, but not the only one from what I have heard,” Romano stated.

“They are also assessing other options. I think they’re waiting to see what happens with any other opportunities in the market for that position, and they will make a decision. But left-back is another position they want to cover for this summer, for sure.”

In addition to Kerkez, United are linked with several other players, including Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, and Joshua Zirkzee.

The arrival of INEOS as minority owners is expected to boost the club’s transfer activity, aiming to strengthen the squad comprehensively.

Kerkez’s transfer from AZ Alkmaar to Bournemouth last summer included a caveat that Bournemouth would demand a high transfer fee to part with the 20-year-old after just one season.

Given his promising first season in the Premier League, it’s clear why United are monitoring him closely.

Kerkez featured in 33 games for Bournemouth across all competitions this season, showcasing his reliability and talent.

His seamless adaptation to the Premier League has caught the eye of United, who might push ahead with a move if Erik ten Hag decides to bolster the left-back position with young talent.
