Manchester United fans can breathe a sigh of relief if the latest injury update provided on Rasmus Hojlund is anything to go by.

The club’s supporters were facing an extremely anxious wait to find out the severity of the injury picked up by Hojlund during United’s pre-season clash against Arsenal at SoFi Stadium over the weekend.

United were beaten 2-1 by Mikel Arteta’s men, although they won a penalty shootout that took place after full-time, with Jadon Sancho’s kick proving decisive.

Hojlund broke the deadlock just ten minutes in as he showed some great physicality to get the better of the defender before producing a fine finish.

Soon after the found the back of the net, Hojlund sustained what appeared to be a muscle injury. Seemingly eager not to worsen the issue, Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff decided to take off the Denmark international.

He was replaced by Hannibal Mejbri, who assumed a false nine role. Carrington academy graduate Ethan Wheatley played the second half.

According to The Sun, Hojlund’s injury is not too serious and the goalscorer is not looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The newspaper notes, “Rasmus Hojlund also came off in that game with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.”

“That is thought to be a slight pull that could just keep him out of the tour’s second game against Real Betis rather than be a long term problem.”

United are set to take on Betis in the early hours of Thursday morning. Kick-off is at 3 am BST.

All eyes will be on Ten Hag to see which player he deploys to fill in for Hojlund. Hannibal certainly didn’t have a big impact when he was on the pitch in that position.

After Betis, United will meet Arne Slot’s Liverpool side on Sunday, in their final clash of the US pre-season tour.
