Fenerbahce have returned with a €12 million bid for former Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Moroccan international played 30 times last season for the Red Devils but failed to nail down a spot in the first team.

In fact, between his return from the African Cup of Nations in late January until April, he barely played.

After playing 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on the 17th of December, he did not play more than half an hour in a Premier League game until the 12th of May against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

In spite of this, the 27 year old continues to be linked with a move back to United but so far they have made no concrete bid for him.

This has resulted in other clubs joining the race and Turkish side Fenerbahce have already made a bid of €10 million that was rejected by Fiorentina.

Turkish outlet Fanatik report that Jose Mourinho’s side have come in with a new offer of €12 million but this falls just below la Viola’s valuation of €15 million.

Despite Fiorentina still not being content with the amount on offer, there seems very little difference now between what the clubs are willing to agree on.

There is a bigger problem for the Istanbul giants however and that seems to be the will of the player.

In a further update by Fanatik they claim that despite the fact that the Fenerbahce “management has been working intensively to add the Moroccan star to its squad for a while”, “it was stated that Sofyan Amrabat had a meeting with Fiorentina… It was emphasized that the star midfielder does not want to return to Italy and has not responded to Fenerbahçe’s offer for now.”

It has also been relayed here that Amrabat would have rejected Fenerbahce’s offer as he still dreams of a return to Manchester United.

Now that the Red Devils have returned from their tour of the United States of America, transfer business should begin to accelerate, as less than four weeks remain in the window, and this should go a long way to deciding what they do about Amrabat.

Player sales such as Scott McTominay should certainly aid United’s search for a midfielder as they are currently discussing a deal with Paris Saint-Germain about Manuel Ugarte and have been linked to free agent Adrien Rabiot.

Amrabat proved last summer that he is prepared to wait until the end of the window for United and may just do so again to see what the club finally decide to do about bolstering the middle of the park.
