Shekley and Tobin are members of the Athlete Advisory Board that supports the Special Olympics longitudinal evaluation of comprehensive health, called All Star ProjectALL STAR stands for “Active Living, Longevity: Special Olympics Transforming Athlete Outcomes.” Through the ALL STAR project, participating athlete researchers complete a comprehensive research training that will provide them with insights into inclusive research. The training explains their important roles in shaping longitudinal evaluation. Additionally, they complete research ethics training specifically designed for adults with disabilities. Intellectual disabilitiesand ensure their willingness to participate in research.
Board members have important tasks, such as sharing their thoughts on study materials such as surveys and recruitment information. In comprehensive health research, athletes are part of the research project as co-investigators. They provide feedback on the research and present evaluation results to promote the ALL STAR project.
