ANTHONY YARDE isn’t at the top of Frank Warren’s priority list right now.
Yarde, who has worked with Warren since the beginning of his career, will appear on a rival promoter’s card next week. The 33-year-old fights on October 19 at the Copper Box in London on a show promoted by Boxxer, headlined by Adam Azim vs. Ohara Davies.
As of yet the light-heavyweight contender doesn’t have an opponent but it does hint at another crack in the relationship between Yarde and Warren.
Warren, who is in Riyadh this week for the Beterbiev-Bivol fight week which features some of his own stable, was asked by Boxing News if Yarde’s fight away from Queensberry is a one-off.
“I don’t know where we’re going with it,” Warren replied.
“Like I’ve said for a while as long as the contractual position is dealt with correctly, and at the moment it has been, we’ll see where it goes from there – I haven’t got a problem.
“As far as the future I’ve got to be honest it’s not something that’s on top of my list.”
So, will Warren work with Yarde again?
“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he answered.
“All I know is that there’s a massive fight on Saturday with the two best in the world and that’s where we are. See where they go and how the dust settles after that with that division. It’s a very, very interesting division.”
