The biggest fight in the heavyweight division history was made oh so casually that the story might seem unreal!  Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic‘s fight was one of the most looked forward to fights last year with the entire MMA community rooting for it to happen but the fight gods had other plans as Jones injured himself just days ahead of his clash and had to withdraw. Miocic also refused to fight anyone except Jones.

Their fight was dubbed as the biggest fight in heavyweight history and guess what it was made in the most casual way which even shocked Joe Rogan. Months after the cancellation of the fight the MMA community now has access to what actually transpired behind the scenes. Let us have a look at it.

Things might have been a little different if Jon Jones had faced Stipe Miocic back in UFC 295, however, It͏ never mater͏ializ͏e͏d, so Tom Aspinall and S͏ergei Pavlovich had to ͏step in for the inte͏r͏͏im heavyw͏eight bel͏t. Now, the entire heavyweight division is in the doldrum͏͏s.͏Why, you ask? We have two champions in the division who seem to be reluctant to fight. Nonetheless, enough about the gloomy condition of the division.

Months after the UFC 295, the UFC seems to have thought that it would be better for them to release the backstage footage of the UFC 295 buildup. Are they joking? Well, it feels like it. Out of many videos, we got a crazy story of how the Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic fight actually materialized. In one of the videos, Jon Jones and Hunter Campbell were at an event. They were talking about Jones’s future matches.

Soon enough, ‘Bones’ asked Campbell to have that discussion outside and not in any office, “Do you want to chat outside? Instead of having a formal meeting,” said Jones. They rushed to the parking lot and had the conversation there. What’s the conclusion of the discussion, you ask? It was Jones vs Miocic. Hunter Campbell creatively managed to clinch two of the biggest names in the promotion.“Biggest fight in the heavyweight history just got made in a car and a parking lot, go figure that one out,” said Campbell. UFC’s successor seems to be managing it a bit too well. Regardless, when Campbell shared the news with Joe Rogan, his reaction was a sight.

The multi-million dollar podcaster was flabbergasted by the news as he couldn’t believe that Campbell pulled this off in a parking lot. Let me remind you, that it’s quite difficult to deal with Jones as he has a history of tough negotiations. However, despite Campbell’s efforts the fight never really materialized as Jones was injured.

Jones broke down as he heard about his layoff

Jon Jones tore his pectoral which forced him to let go of his UFC 295 aspirations. Up until now, the MMA community was sure that Jones was aware of the fact that he tore his pec and that is why he took time to recover but the reality is a bit different. Jon Jones was aware of the injury but he was not sure about the severity of the tear. In another footage, we see Jon Jones, Dana White, and Hunter Campbell having a conversation with one another as Campbell dropped the news that ‘Bones’ would have to undergo a six-month to one-year layoff due to his condition.

This news broke Jones as he could, not believe what was happening to him. “I got the results. You’re out six months to a year. You have to go have surgery,” said Campbell. ‘Bones’ was in utter disbelief as he was about to cry. “You’re lying. I don’t want to cry in front of you two,” Jones said. The UFC backstage moments were just recently released by the promotion as they shared what happens in the background of the promotion.
