Manchester United have won the race to sign goalscoring sensation Chido Obi-Martin according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Earlier this month, the reliable David Ornstein revealed that United were exploring a deal to sign Obi-Martin, who turned down offers from Arsenal to extend his stay in North London.

The 16-year-old bagged five hat-tricks in the final nine games of the Under-18 Premier League season last term. His tally included a seven-goal haul in a nine-goal thrashing of Norwich.

He followed that up by registering five goals as Arsenal beat West Ham 8-1.

To lure Obi-Martin to their ranks, it’s believed that United invited him to tour their facilities.

On Monday, the forward officially confirmed his Arsenal exit via a social media post. In his message, Obi-Martin thanked the Gunners for providing him with a platform to grow and nurture his great talent.

United were not the only party pursuing Obi-Martin.

He was also on the radar of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. However, Romano has now confirmed that Erik ten Hag’s side have warded off all competition to land one of England’s biggest talents in his age group.

Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Chido Obi Martin to Man United, here we go!”

“Talented striker leaves Arsenal and he’s just accepted Man Utd proposal.”

“Pathway key for Chido who’s turned down higher bids from Germany to sign for Man United.”

“Project convinced 2007 born top talent to accept.”

It’s important to note that Arsenal are due compensation now that the transfer for Obi-Martin has gone through.

Arsenal acquired the player from FC Copenhagen in 2022 when he was 14-years-old.
