Oscar Piastri took an electrifying second F1 career victory around the streets of Baku, executing a defensive masterclass to win ahead of Charles Leclerc after a 30-lap battle.

After carrying out a spectacular overtake on pole-sitter Leclerc on Lap 20, the Aussie narrowly kept hold of the lead despite the Ferrari staying less than a second behind him for the majority of the race.

Sergio Perez consistently looked like he could challenge for the win but a late charge from Carlos Sainz resulted in both ending their race in the barrier on the penultimate lap, leading to the race concluding under the Virtual Safety Car.

Inheriting the final podium spot, the Mercedes of George Russell crossed the line ahead of championship rivals Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, who slotted into P4 and P5 respectively.

After briefly running in P3 earlier in the race, Alex Albon claimed another points haul in seventh place behind Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin, as Franco Colapinto and Lewis Hamilton claimed P8 and P9.

Marginally behind, Ollie Bearman put together a strong performance on his Haas debut to round out the top 10, narrowly finishing ahead of his team mate Nico Hulkenberg.
