Max Verstappen set the pace during FP1 for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as Charles Leclerc and Franco Colapinto crashed out on the streets of Baku.
In what was a disrupted session that saw three red flags (the first to clear debris while the other two were required for the aforementioned crashes), Red Bull’s reigning world champion left it late to post the quickest time of 1m 45.546s. That was ultimately 0.313s faster than second-placed Lewis Hamilton.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez posted the third fastest time at the track where he is a two-time winner, while Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz rounded out the top five.
