Silva Mexes Tyler-Earnshaw has completed his move to Manchester United from Ipswich Town’s academy.

The 14-year-old is the son of former Wales international Robert Earnshaw and took to social media to announce the completion of the move.

Under the name Silva Mexes, the youngster usually plays on the right wing.

His father also took to Twitter to express his delight at his son’s success saying, “This is really special.

“I’m so proud. He has worked hard and it is such a blessing to see him find his passion and embark on this journey. I love you son.

“I’m your number one fan. I will support you in every possible way and I know you have qualities. Go be GREAT.”

The youngster posted: “A very proud moment for me and my family to announce my signing for @manchesterunited. Thank you to everyone who has helped me on my journey so far. Work begins now.”

Silva Mexes is not just a talent on the football field, he is also a top athlete, winning a gold medal at the Essex County Championships and claiming on Instagram that he ran the 100m in just 11.2 seconds last year.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Silva Mexes fulfilled one of Robert Earnshaw’s dreams by joining United, the club his father supported as a child.

A 59-cap, 16-goal Wales international, Earnshaw knows exactly what his son needs to make a successful career in the game.

Silva Mexes will join Kai Rooney and Jacey Carrick in the United U15s next season.

The first of many, United’s academy recruitment drive will now kick into next gear as the summer approaches with a number of further recruitments set to take place.
