Inter Milan are reportedly not keen on the prospect of signing Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as they’re on the brink of officially tying down Denzel Dumfries to a new contract.

The right-back position is an area of the pitch United want to reinforce, with the club open to selling Wan-Bissaka this summer.

Some of the options United are considering include Noussair Mazraoui (Bayern Munich), Vanderson (AS Monaco) and long-term Erik ten Hag target Dumfries.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that amidst interest in his services from West Ham, Wan-Bissaka’s top priority was to join Inter and work under Simone Inzaghi. It’s understood that a swap deal was previously suggested by intermediaries, which would see Wan-Bissaka move to the San Siro and Dumfries joining Ten Hag’s ranks.

Dumfries is a player who has been repeatedly mentioned to be on United’s radar since Ten Hag took over the reins at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022.

A swap deal would have ideally not been difficult to get over the line considering both Wan-Bissaka and Dumfries have entered the final 12 months of their contracts with United and Inter respectively.

However, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Milan are one step away from reaching an agreement with Dumfries over fresh terms. The reigning Serie A champions have offered the Netherlands international a salary of €4m per year, up from the €2.5m he currently earns.

Talks have been held with Dumfries’ entourage and it appears that a breakthrough is not far. Corriere dello Sport note that the consequence of this development is that Inter are not interested in a potential swoop for Wan-Bissaka.

“In addition, some intermediaries proposed an exchange with Wan Bissaka, who Manchester United would like to place and who, like Dumfries, has a contract expiring in 2025.”

“Inter did not warm up, unlike when Vanderson, a 23-year-old Brazilian owned by Monaco, was proposed. His characteristics are considered very interesting: he runs, pushes, can also beat a man and seems perfect as a full-back.”

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport insist that an agreement over a new contract between Dumfries and Inter has already been struck, Like CdS, the news outlet mentions that the Nerazzurri discarded the option of securing Wan-Bissaka’s services when it was offered to them.

La Gazzetta dello Sport add that Mazraoui is Ten Hag’s “first choice target” and the full-back’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is working to place his client at Old Trafford.

With Inter now out of the running to land Wan-Bissaka, the 26-year-old’s most likely destination may be West Ham.

After West Ham’s bid to sign Mazraoui failed, it emerged that they turned their attention towards Wan-Bissaka. Talks between the Hammers and United remain ongoing to try and reach middle ground over a fee.
