Jadon Sancho is close to joining Chelsea from Manchester United in a dramatic last-minute deadline day deal.

This is according to the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has uttered his famous “here we go!”

Sancho will leave United on a loan deal with an obligation to buy on Chelsea’s part.

Ornstein writes: “The deal, which has been agreed between both clubs, will see the England international move on an initial loan with the west London club having an obligation to make the switch permanent next summer.

“The 24-year-old will then be expected to sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.”

Romano says: “Jadon Sancho to Chelsea, here we go! Loan deal with obligation to buy clause agreed between the clubs.

“Sancho already said yes as he wanted Chelsea move, deal now agreed between all parties.

“Man United accepted the proposal and deal is now set to he signed.”

Sancho appeared to have got a second life under Erik ten Hag after the pair fell out over comments made on social media last year.

The player was shipped off to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the second part of last season, but featured heavily for United in pre-season.

Clearly, the intention was simply to put him in the shop window as he was then excluded from United’s first two Premier League matchday squads.
