Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has hinted he could be on the move this summer amid Premier League and Manchester United links
Strengthening the midfielder is believed to be a priority for United in the upcoming transfer window.
For much of the 2023/24 season, United struggled in the middle of the park, with the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen unable to replicate the fine performances they put in in their first campaigns at Old Trafford.
Both players look increasingly likely to leave the club in the coming weeks. Casemiro is on Saudi Arabia’s radar, while Eriksen has been mentioned as a target for the likes of Ajax and Galatasaray.
If they leave, United’s need for midfield reinforcements will only become more pressing. In addition to this, the Red Devils must also secure the services of an ideal partner for youngster Kobbie Mainoo. Here comes Kimmich.
There has been speculation about his future at Bayern for some time, given that he still has one year left on his contract with the Bavarian team.
The situation with Kimmich’s contract is thought to be in line with the transfer policy INEOS wants to implement at United as players approach the final months of their contracts.
Back in March, a report covering The Peoples Person claimed that Kimmich had ruled out a move to United.
It was stated that the 20-time English champions were not an option for him.
Subsequent reports then suggested United were back in the hunt for Kimmich despite competition from La Liga giants Barcelona.
HITC reveals that Kimmich is evaluating his options ahead of his next big career move. Spain and England are potential transfer destinations for the 29-year-old.
Kimmich spoke to the media (via Fabrizio Romano) and reflected on his situation.
The eight-time Bundesliga winner said of his future at Bayern: βIt doesn’t just depend on me. What does the club want?”
“FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, my future will be discussed. I have one year left on my contract.β

For United and any other interested parties, it is somewhat reassuring that he has not closed the door on a move elsewhere. It’s definitely one to keep a close eye on.
