Jurgen Klopp showed his love for Liverpool fans during an unforgettable farewell speech at Anfield, hailing them as “the superpower of world football”.

There were few dry eyes in the house after the Reds’ 2-0 win at home to Wolves on Sunday.

The day fell to Klopp, who waved after nine seasons at Anfield, ending a legendary spell in charge.

Speaking on the pitch after the game, with Anfield still packed, the German singled out the fans as key to the club’s success going forward.

He described Liverpool fans as “the superpower of world football” and told them “from today I am one of you”.

“Faith is an active act, you have to do it yourself. I just said we have to, you did it – so that’s a big difference,” said Klopp.

“Nobody’s telling you to stop believing now, because this club is in a better moment than – I have to ask Kenny – maybe ever… for a long time, let me put it that way.

“We have this wonderful stadium, we have this wonderful training center, we have you, the superpower of world football. Wow.

“From today I am one of you and I continue to believe”

“We decide whether we are worried or excited. We decide whether we believe or not. We decide whether we believe or not.

“And from today I am one of you and I believe in you. I remain a believer, 100 percent.

“I saw a lot of people crying and that will happen to me tonight as well, because I will miss people, that’s clear. But also, change is good and you never know what to expect.

“But if you go into it with the right attitude, then everything will be fine, because the basics are 100 percent. It’s the team, and it’s the new manager.”

It was an incredible speech from Klopp – did we really expect anything different? – while his class and charisma shone through.

There was also time for the 56-year-old to pay tribute to his successor, leading a chorus of “Arne Slot, na na, na na na na!”, at the changing of the guard.

It was a lovely touch, showing his support for the Dutchman, who replaces him in one of the most demanding jobs in football.
