With so much going on over the summer, we’ve put together a list of key dates for Liverpool fans to mark.
It will be a summer of change for Liverpool. With head coach Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp, he will need to make the most of pre-season to ensure a smooth transition.
Currently, three warm-up matches are planned, but before that there is the small matter of Euro 2024 and Copa America.
Here are the key dates for your diaries this summer:
June 14 – The transfer window opens
Although rumors will be swirling for weeks, the Premier League transfer market officially opens on June 14.
Then players can officially put pen to paper and register for new clubs ahead of the new season.
New sporting director Richard Hughes will work closely with Slott to recruit the best players for Liverpool in positions of relative weakness.
The window then closes on August 30.
June 14 – Euro 2024 begins
On the same day, Euro 2024 kicks off at 20:00 (BST) when Andy Robertson leads Scotland at the Allianz Arena against Germany.
In the group stage, mark June 21 in your diaries for France v Holland, and leave June 23 free for Scotland v Hungary.
Given that 24 teams are participating in the tournament, all Liverpool players have a good chance of reaching the knockout stage.
The final will be held on July 14.
June 18 – Premier League fixtures announced
It’s always an exciting day when the fixtures for the new season are announced.
This year will be no different as we find out who will be Slott’s first competitive opponents as head coach of Liverpool.
A nice, simple home game would be ideal to get us off to a winning start.
June 21 – Copa America begins
Liverpool are expected to have four players at this summer’s Copa America – Alexis McAllister, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Alisson.
The tournament, which is being held in the US, will begin on June 21 when Argentina plays Canada in Atlanta.
Be sure to set your alarms for 2am (BST) on July 3, for Colombia v Brazil in the final round of group matches.
The final will be held on July 15 at 01:00.
July 1 – Week 1 of preseason (TBC)
We don’t have an official date when the players will return to Merseyside to start pre-season training, but we know Slott wants to move quickly.
The TelegraphChris Bascombe has reiterated that the Dutchman has pushed the start of pre-season forward by a week.
“The team will meet again in the first week of July – so that they can acclimatize to the new environment,” the reporter wrote.
July 27 – Real Betis
This will be the first time to really see that Klopp is no longer the manager of Liverpool for many of us.
At the time of writing, Liverpool’s first scheduled pre-season match is against Real Betis at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, USA.
1 August – Arsenal
The next match will be played in Philadelphia against Arsenal.
It is difficult to predict who will be involved in these first pre-season games, given the potential for several players to go deep into the Euros and Copa America.
Each player is expected to get at least three weeks of rest. For example, a group stage exit at the Euros would mean a player would report to Liverpool in the week commencing 15 July.
August 4 – Man United
At the moment, the last match of the pre-season will be against Man United at the Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina.
However, there is the possibility of scheduling a match before or after the Reds’ trip to America, something Slott might want to arrange.
August 17th
After a month and a half of pre-season, the start of the Premier League finally arrives on the weekend of August 17.
We will find out who Liverpool’s first opponent will be when the matches are announced on June 18.

- Arsenal – Lincoln Financial Field – August 1, 12:30 p.m
