of LA Galaxy has won the winger Diego Fagundez in a trade with Austin FC pending league approval, league sources said Athletics.

Austin will take the midfielder Memo Rodriguez and up to $300,000 in general allocation money (GAM), but can go up to $900,000 GAM including allowances.

Fagundez, 28, has been with Austin since their inaugural season in 2021. The standout forward had 17 goals and 18 assists in 95 appearances, leading the club to the Western Conference Finals in 2022. This season, Fagundez had three goals and one assist in 24 appearances (1,337 minutes) in all competitions.

Fagundez signed a contract extension last offseason to make him among the highest paid players on the team. The deal gives new sporting director Rodolfo Borrell more flexibility to make roster changes.

The winger started his MLS career with The New England Revolutionjoining as their first home signing in 2010. He made his MLS debut in 2011 as a 16-year-old and amassed 278 appearances for New England.

Fagundez adds one Galaxy attack centered around star no. 10 Riqui Puigdesignated player Douglas Costa and former US international Tyler Boyd. He adds another layer of quality and creativity to the group, a competition partner for Puig.

Rodriguez, 27, initially signed a domestic deal with Houston Dynamo and spent the first part of his career there, making 136 regular season appearances with the Dynamon. He joined the Galaxy as a free agent and had three goals and one assist in 16 appearances (813 minutes) this year.

The Galaxy have a transfer ban during this window where they cannot sign players from abroad, but can buy players from within the country, like this trade for Fagundez. The ban expires when the summer transfer window closes Wednesday night (midnight CT), and the Galaxy can sign international free agents like any other MLS team.

LA is 13th in the Western Conference with 22 points after 22 games and is seven points below the playoff line with 12 games remaining in the league.

of Portland Timbers bought the Honduran international midfielder Bryan Acosta in a trade with Colorado Rapidsleague sources said Athletics.

Acosta, 29, has made 14 league appearances for the Rapids this season. He has made 45 appearances in all competitions since joining the club ahead of the 2022 season. Acosta originally came to MLS from Tenerife with FC Dallas as a certain player.

The Timbers add another central midfielder with MLS experience to their squad after late season injuries Eric Williamson AND David Ayala.

Colorado remain in active discussions to bring in further reinforcements to their squad and aim to do so before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline.

Both clubs are looking for better form going forward. The Rapids sit in 14th place in the Western Conference and the Timbers in 12th place, both below the playoff line.
