Lazio are reportedly ready to offer the Manchester United player as part of a deal to sign Mason Greenwood this summer.
Greenwood is a wanted man! After a successful loan spell in Spain with Getafe in 2023/24, the forward is of interest to several clubs in Europe and even Saudi Arabia.
Some of the teams mentioned as wanting to sign Greenwood and offer him his next permanent home include Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and of course Lazio.
Lazio tried to add academy graduate Carrington to their ranks last summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute, paving the way for him to move to Getafe instead.
The Serie A outfit are coming back for the 22-year-old, with a recent report covered by The Peoples Person claiming that they have opened talks with United in order to complete the transfer.
Negotiations were said to be around an initial fee of £30m which could rise with performance-related bonuses. United are believed to want around £40m to part with Greenwood permanently.
The Italian press later claimed that Lazio’s offer for Greenwood was actually nowhere near as high as originally stated and was only worth £17 million.
Italian daily Il Messaggero (via Tutto Mercato ) now explains that Lazio are ready to get creative in their efforts to lure Greenwood to the Stadio Olimpico.
Le Aquile is ready to offer United 18 million euros plus 22-year-old stopper Mandas. Last month, United were linked with Mandas, who is also wanted by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Lazio are also open to shelling out €18m to secure Greenwood’s services and in the process the club will hand United a 50% fee from the forward’s future sale.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito is personally leading the campaign to win Greenwood.
However, it is unlikely to be successful as United are adamant that Greenwood will only be able to do a straight cash deal. The Red Devils are in desperate need of cash to bolster their own transfer kitty.
