Liverpool are expected to bid for Leeds winger Crysencia Summerville, according to reports in Yorkshire, although it is unclear if there is genuine interest.

Summerville is known to be a player on Liverpool’s radar, and with Leeds failing to secure promotion to the Premier League, their star talent is expected to leave.

This has led to speculation of a move to Anfield, especially as the Reds are on the lookout for a new winger and have recently appointed another Dutchman, Arne Slott, as head coach.

As it stands, there has been no progress on Summerville, but LeedsLive claim that both Liverpool and Chelsea are “ready to make offers”.

This comes with a price tag of “around £35m” for the 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 games last season.

Summerville is likely to be among the most coveted wingers on the market, especially for Premier League clubs, and the £35m price tag could be a bargain signing.

Leeds are in a difficult position as they will need to raise funds to avoid any financial sanctions following their play-off final defeat to Southampton.

But it remains to be seen if the claims of a promotion from Anfield are true, with This is AnfieldDavid Lynch reported in January that there was “no guarantee” the Reds would follow up on any interest.

Most of Summerville’s appearances in the campaign have just come as a left winger, where Liverpool’s squad is already well equipped.

Luis Diaz was first choice in the left-back role last season under Jurgen Klopp, but Slott also has compatriot Cody Gakpo as an interesting option alongside the versatile Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

Summerville, however, can play on the right-back, almost exclusively having worked his way through Feyenoord’s academy – including loan spells at FC Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag – as well as Leeds’ youth ranks.

He even started on the right against Slott’s AZ Alkmaar during the 2019/20 season with ADO Den Haag, before moving forward in the next clash of the term.

All signs point to Liverpool looking for a young, left winger for the right flank this summer, with Summerville’s right foot being his dominant foot.

That could work against the Dutch youth international, with the likes of Michael Olise, Bryan Mbeum and Johan Bakayoko perhaps more realistic contenders.
