Less than 24 hours after returning to Columbus from Montreal, the Crew was back on a plane, traveling to Chicago for their second of six road matches in a row.
Columbus’ 3-1 victory over CF Montreal on Wednesday was the club’s first road win of the season, but there was little time to relish in the result, having a quick turnaround for a match against the Chicago Fire match on Saturday night.
Takeaways:Diego Rossi scores first goal in MLS play this season, Crew win vs Montreal
Last year, the road was a struggle for the Crew during the regular season, as they finished with an away record of 4-8-5.
With the momentum in their favor, the Crew are viewing this long stretch of road games as a chance to “really see what we’re made of.”
“I think everyone knows at this point of the season we have to continue to grind and to find ways to get results,” said midfielder Sean Zawadzki. “It’s continue to push and continue to fight and get the results.”
In the last Columbus-Chicago matchup on March 9 at Lower.com Field, the Crew won 2-1 with a goal from Mo Farsi in the 10th minute of second half stoppage time.
Faris was sidelined for Columbus after suffering a groin injury on April 27 but returned to action in Montreal.
