Fenway Sports Group has owned Liverpool since 2010 and has overseen incredible financial growth, taking the club close to administration to the fourth most valuable football team.

October will mark the 14th anniversary of FSG taking over at Anfield, having parted with £300m to take the club from Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

They didn’t do everything right, far from it, but they made the club viable and played a significant role in returning Liverpool to the top of club football.

Forbes released its list of the most valuable football teams for 2024 on Thursday, with Liverpool coming in fourth with a valuation of 4.2 billion pounds ($5.37 billion).

That’s 14 times more than the amount FSG parted with in 2010!

The estimate shows that Liverpool is behind only Real Madrid (£5.19 billion), Man United (£5.15 billion) and Barcelona (£4.4 billion) in the Forbes world rankings.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have been restored to their place on the pitch and off it FSG selling minority stakes RedBird Capital and Dynasty Equity will play their part in the assessment.

This is in addition to broadcasting deals, various commercial deals and kit sponsorships – which will see Liverpool swap Nike for Adidas from 2025/26.

Liverpool’s operating income, according to Forbes, is 79.4 million pounds ($102 million), the lowest of the top five – which includes Man City, which is estimated to be worth 4 billion pounds.

The Reds are in the midst of significant changes on and off the pitch, with a new-look hierarchy heralding the return of Michael Edwards and the appointment of Arne Slott as head coach.
