Mohamed Salah said on Sunday that he may be playing his last season with Liverpool, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Salah, 32, spoke after Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the English Premier League, where he scored a goal and provided two assists.

“I had a good summer, I had a lot of time to be with myself and think positively, and as you know this is my last year at the club,” Salah told Sky Sports.

“I just want to enjoy it. I don’t want to think about it. I feel free to play football and we’ll see what happens next year.”

“Nobody at the club has spoken to me about contracts yet, so I will play my last season and we will see at the end of the season. It is not up to me.”

Liverpool rejected a £150 million ($197 million) bid from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for Salah in September 2023, and despite reports of a renewed attempt by Saudi clubs to sign the Egypt international this summer, no firm offer has been made for the striker.

Although Salah’s contract is now in its final year, Liverpool manager Arn Slot said he would not discuss the player’s situation.

“At the moment (Salah) is one of our players and I am very happy that he is one of our players. He played very well, but I am not talking about contracts,” Slot said.

Salah is one of three Liverpool stars who are entering the final year of their contracts.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk and academy director Trent Alexander-Arnold are also set to leave the club at the end of the season unless they agree new contracts to extend their stay at Anfield.

Salah has scored 214 goals and provided 92 assists in 352 appearances for Liverpool. He joined the club in 2017 from Roma after spells at Basel, Chelsea and Fiorentina.
