Manchester United are reportedly one of the top three Premier League clubs weighing up a move for AS Roma forward Paul Dybala.
Since their failed attempt to secure his signature in 2019, Dybala has always been the one to pull through for United.
At the time, club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to add the Argentine to his ranks, but needless to say the transfer never crossed the line.
The versatile forward has rejected overtures from United, as well as those from other English clubs, in favor of staying in Serie A.
In Italy, Dybala enjoyed a highly successful seven-year spell with Juventus, winning five Scudetto titles, four Coppa Italias and three Supercoppa Italianas.
He left Turin in the summer of 2022 for a new adventure at Roma, where he was equally impressive. In 76 appearances for the Giallorossi so far, Dybala has scored 36 goals and provided 18 assists. This season alone, he has 16 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
Five years after United’s initial attempt to sign him, the 30-year-old appears to be back on the club’s radar if a recent report is to be believed.
It is understood that alongside the Red Devils, Chelsea and Arsenal are the other English teams fighting for the “extraordinary” Dybala.
The player has a buy-out clause worth just €12m (£10m), a no-brainer for a player of his stature, experience and attributes.
All three Premier League clubs are monitoring Dybala’s situation with the intention of potentially making a move for him.
While Dybala would undoubtedly be a solid signing for United given his performance and quality, it is unlikely that Ten Hague’s side will agree to him.
It has been mentioned repeatedly that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS want to build a new look United around a core of young players with the potential to become world class. Dybala – for all the trappings he comes with – hardly fits this profile at the moment.
United’s interest in him should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed by more reliable journalists or sources.
