Manchester United have released their official retained list for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Clubs submit an annual list to the Premier League to inform the organization of players they have released or may release.

The Red Devils have confirmed seven departures, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams, Tom Huddlestone, Charlie McNeil, Marcus Lawrence and Kia Plumley.

On their official website, United also stated that negotiations are ongoing with four more stars as their contracts expire in the coming days.

“Discussions on a potential new contract remain open with Saul Shortire,” the club announced.

“Discussions remain open with Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton over potential new contracts, while Omari Forson has been formally offered a new contract.”

It is also noted that Alvaro Fernandez Carreras will leave because “Benfica have exercised the option to buy the player on a permanent basis after the loan deal”.

Shoretire, Evans and Heaton look likely to leave, although the club suggest there could be a last-minute delay.

Forson is likely to join them unless there is a last-minute change of heart from either club or player.

United’s contract offer has been on the table for some time.

This makes twelve likely departures from the first team or its fringes, with more expected to follow.

Casemiro, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo are among those linked by the media with transfers.

Manager Erik ten Haag could also be heading for the exit door after Ineos completes its end-of-season review, making this summer almost unprecedented in terms of the number of departures from the club.
