Manchester United have not scored in three consecutive Premier League games and are languishing in 14th place with only eight points from seven games.

This represents their worst start in the league in 35 years and the pressure is ramping up on manager Erik ten Hag ahead of Saturday’s game against Brentford.

INEOS decided against sacking the Dutchman during the international break and while Ten Hag keeps reiterating that the new co-owners still trust him, the media keeps hinting otherwise.

The option of bringing in Thomas Tuchel is no longer on the table but Bees boss Thomas Frank’s name has been doing the rounds a lot recently with the Dane refusing to dispel those rumours.

EtH’s future up in the air

There are other names in the fray like Edin Terzic, formerly of Borussia Dortmund. The United hierarchy were very impressed with the way he took the Bundesliga giants all the way to the Champions League final last season.

And as per journalist Christian Falk, the Red Devils have been in contact with the German coach and him being a free agent certainly suits INEOS.

“Another Dortmund coach is very highly rated on Manchester United’s managerial shortlist at the moment – it’s Edin Terzic. There has already been contact with the 41-year-old and they’ve been watching him since the summer.

“United is very impressed with how he reached the Champions League final with Dortmund. Terzic is also available on the market as a free agent, so let’s see how it works out with Erik ten Hag.

Terzic is available & INEOS are in touch with him

“But I heard that Edin Terzic is one of three candidates considered to succeed the Manchester United boss,” Falk wrote in the Daily Briefing.

Terzic was a huge success at Dortmund in two separate spells — winning the DFB Pokal in his first time before coming mightily close to winning the Bundesliga in his second era before the “incredible” European adventure last time out.

The United boss will aware of the fact that Ruud van Nistelrooy is also at the club and if elite names cannot be hired in the middle of the season, the former club striker can certainly take up the mantle in the interim.

Ten Hag needs his players to put on a show in the next few weeks or else the new co-owners might not remain patient as the prospect of European football seems to be slipping away at the moment.
