Manchester United’s chances of signing Crystal Palace star man Eberechi Eze reportedly hinge on the sale of either Marcus Rashford or Bruno Fernandes.

Eze was linked to United in the summer and was mentioned to be on the club’s list of midfield reinforcements but needless to say, a move never materialised.

Despite interest in his services from several other Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool, the player ended up staying at Palace.

He has picked up where he left off last season, having already registered three goals and one assist in nine appearances for the Eagles across all competitions so far.

Amid an extremely underwhelming start to the 2024/25 campaign by Palace, Eze has been a shining light for the side.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are keen on adding Eze to their ranks in the summer of 2025, with the middle of the park earmarked as an area of improvement.

Fabrizio Romano recently gave an update on the 26-year-old and confirmed United’s admiration for him. The Italian journalist said that Erik ten Hag’s side have been scouting Eze and see him as someone who can seamlessly slot into life at Old Trafford.

However, the Italian journalist warned that it will not be easy to pry the player from Selhurst Park, due to his complicated release clause.

Meanwhile, FootballTransfers reveal that United will almost certainly need to offload a big-name player to boost their chances of landing Eze.

According to the news outlet, “FootballTransfers understands that Manchester United have been closely monitoring Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze, with the club’s scouting department keeping tabs on the England international throughout last season.”

“However, according to sources, a potential move for Eze – who has a £60 million (€72m) release clause – remains out of reach unless a significant departure occurs from Old Trafford.”

“The names most linked to a potential exit are none other than Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, two of the Red Devils’ most high-profile players. If either of them were to be sold, it would clear the financial room for Man Utd to make a serious bid for Eze.”

Steve Kay explains that Eze’s versatility is his main point of attraction. In addition to plying his trade as a midfielder, the England international can also be deployed on the wing.

It’s understood that despite rumours that Antony could be included as part of a deal to sign Eze, Palace are not interested in the Brazilian forward.

The London club are standing firm on their valuation of Eze and will not entertain anything less than his £60m release clause.
