Manchester United are reportedly interested in Turkey national team boss Vincenzo Montella amidst growing uncertainty over Erik ten Hag’s future.
Ten Hag is hanging on to his job by a thread following United’s extremely poor start to the 2024/25 season.
United currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, having won just two of their opening seven fixtures. The Red Devils have eight points to their name and have scored a measly five goals.
Statistically, it’s the club’s worst-ever start to a top-flight campaign.
Ten Hag appears to have survived an executive meeting that was held by high-ranking chiefs last week, although a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Dutchman could be sacked if United lose their two upcoming matches against Brentford and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
In the past few days, a number of managers have been linked to the Old Trafford hot seat, as potential replacements for Ten Hag.
Some of these coaches include Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel. However, it recently emerged that Tuchel – who was widely believed to be United’s top managerial target – agreed to become the next England boss.
The Three Lions officially unveiled the German earlier today.

Ajansspor journalist Salim Manav now reports that United retain an interest in Vincenzo Montella.
Manav wrote on X, “Manchester United has added national team coach Vincenzo Montella to its list of potential coaches.”

Montella was appointed head coach of the Turkey team in September 2023. He took over from Stefan Kuntz, who oversaw a run of disappointing results and performances before his dismissal.
Montella put pen to paper on a three-year contract. The 50-year-old, who represented Empoli, Genoa, Sampdoria, Roma and briefly Fulham during his playing days, left his post as coach of Adana Demirspor having won 38 of his 76 matches in the dugout.
He began his coaching career with Serie C outfit Catania in 2011 and went on to have spells with Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Milan, Sevilla and Fiorentina again before he sealed a switch to Adana Demirspor.
