Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Watford midfielder Yaser Asprilla.

The 20-time champions of the English league struggled a lot in midfield last season as the players often proved unable to protect the back line and the opposing teams counter-attacked almost at will.

Moreover, the likely departures of players such as Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat and Christian Eriksen make it necessary for the club to acquire more than one midfielder.

United have been linked with moves for stars such as Joao Neves and Morten Hjulmand, but the INEOS co-owners are also looking to bring in less obvious targets and cast the net further and wider to capture some of football’s top talent.

Colombian journalist Guillermo Arango posted on X that one of those players is Watford’s Yaser Asprilla.

He reports that “Yasera Asprilla is wanted by several European clubs. Brighton, Manchester United, Dortmund, Milan, Bologna, Betis and Real Sociedad have shown interest in the player.”

It also states that “Watford want final sale for £30m”.

Mladić was a regular in the Watford team, playing 47 times and scoring six goals and assisting another eight.

He has also made a really positive start to his international career, playing four times for Colombia and already scoring twice for his country.

The 20-year-old became the second-youngest player ever to feature for Colombia and will also be seen in action later this month when his nation takes part in COPA America.

He has been described as “one of the hottest players in Colombian football” and is “fearless” in the fight.

“His excellent balance, change of pace and dribbling skills are similar to those of a traditional winger but, most importantly, he is able to bring this to a more central role.”

The player’s mobility and aggression would certainly be a welcome addition to United’s midfield which certainly lacked these traits last season and could be a smart signing for the club to add to their exciting pool of young talent.
