Manchester United are reportedly looking at deals for Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
United’s two out-and-out left backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, are currently sidelined due to injury.
Hence, Erik ten Hag is being forced to play Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazroui out of position.
Malacia has yet to fully recover from a severe injury that kept him out for the entire 23/24 season.
On the other hand, Shaw suffered a calf injury at the start of pre-season and is expected to be fit after the international break.
According to The Sun, Fulham’s Robinson is on United’s radar.
The 27 year old has impressed with his attacking play and is valued at around £30 million.
Robinson would bring much-needed dynamism to United’s left flank.
GiveMeSport claim that Bournemouth’s young full-back Kerkez is another player United are keeping tabs on.
They were linked with him in July, with Fabrizio Romano confirming their serious interest in the Hungarian.
Kerkez would be an exciting addition to Ten Hag’s squad, offering a long-term replacement for Shaw.
The full backs are a pivotal position in the Dutchman’s system at United. Ten Hag likes them to invert in midfield, with the wingers staying out wide.
Kerkez would offer something completely different, as compared to Shaw. While the latter might be technically better suited to Ten Hag’s system, he lacks the explosiveness required in certain moments.
Kerkez is electric on the flanks, and is not shy to take on the opposition winger or defender while attacking.
If Shaw’s injury concerns persist, United will likely delve into the January market to sign one of Robinson or Kerkez.
