Manchester United’s injury curse seemed to have returned on Sunday with new signing Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund both suffering injury during the club’s 1-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in their first pre-season game of the US tour.

Erik ten Hag did not clarify regarding the timeline of their potential return but the Frenchman’s issue could be more severe as per certain reports.

Academy talent Rhys Bennett came on as his replacement and the club could be forced to bring in further cover at the back this window.

Deals for Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite have proved to be complicated to pull off but in good news, Victor Lindelof has finally rejoined team training.

Lindelof back in training

He is yet to play a single minute in the three games thus far, recovering from a small niggle. The club’s official website revealed that the Swede has regained full fitness and was spotted in training after the game.

“Victor Lindelof resumed full training at UCLA on Sunday, after missing the opening games of Manchester United’s pre-season.

“The Sweden international was among several first-team players who missed the first game against Rosenberg as they worked on fitness after the summer break.

“He then sat out the Rangers game in Edinburgh with a small niggle and, while he has been recovering well, he was not ready for Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles.

“However, Victor – who watched the game at SoFi Stadium from the dugouts – was back in full training with the rest of the group in the latest session.”

With the former Lille ace potentially out for the next couple of games, Ten Hag could turn to Lindelof as he has often done since arriving at the club.

More minutes or to be sold?

The 30-year-old was impressive in Ten Hag’s first season but constant injuries meant the Sweden international only played 28 times last season, his lowest since signing for the club seven seasons ago.

His current deal ends in 2025 and the club are open to his departure. He has been garnering plenty of interest from within England as well as abroad.

The former Benfica ace had arrived for €35 million back in 2017 and United are expected to sustain a heavy loss on their initial investment.

The centre-back current market value stands at €15 million and the Old Trafford side would do well to earn as much from his sale.
