Manchester United could reportedly hand Liverpool a transfer blow for a second time this summer should they manage to part ways with Jadon Sancho.

Earlier in this transfer window, United raised plenty of eyebrows by luring Leny Yoro away from Lille. The Frenchman, dubbed the Kylian Mbappe of defenders, was on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Liverpool.

It appears the Merseyside outfit are prioritising improving their defence under new manager Arne Slot, who is yet to be handed any new signing so far. After missing out on Yoro, Liverpool have set their sights on signing a new goalkeeper.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Valencia star Giorgi Mamardashvili, having reportedly already agreed personal terms with the 6′ 6” goalkeeper.

The 23-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive stint with Georgia in this summer’s Euros, is seemingly viewed as Alisson Becker’s long-term replacement at Anfield.

Interestingly, as per The Mirror, Sancho’s future at Old Trafford has the potential to impact Liverpool’s transfer plans for their goalkeeping department.

The outlet suggests that United also hold an interest in Mamardashvili and could make their move to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit. The shot-stopper is also “very much open” to moving to Manchester.

However, the Red Devils apparently have to first sell Sancho as they need to trim their squad and raise sufficient capital before adding any new reinforcements.

The English winger has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain all summer. Further, The Peoples Person recently relayed a report claiming Chelsea have also expressed an interest in signing him.

Despite repairing his relationship with Ten Hag, Sancho remains far away from cementing his place in his starting lineup. The 24-year-old was not even included in the matchday squad for United’s Premier League opener against Fulham.

The United gaffer revealed Sancho had an ear infection heading into the game but insisted he could have still played. Instead, Ten Hag preferred to rely on other options from the bench.

As far as United’s goalkeeping position is concerned, United are unlikely to spend big on signing a new goalkeeper considering Andre Onana’s form as well as their financial fair play concerns.

It has been widely reported that Valencia are demanding north of €30 million for Mamardashvili.
