Manchester United legend Steve Bruce could soon make a comeback to the dugout amid strong interest from Jamaica.

The summer has already seen two United legends—Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy bag high-profile coaching roles. The Englishman has been named the manager of Plymouth Argyle and the former Dutch striker has returned to Old Trafford to assist Erik ten Hag.

Now, Bruce, who shielded United’s penalty area 392 times from 1987 to 1996 from central defence, has attracted an offer to return to the limelight in a new surprise managerial role after a gap of nearly two years.

The 63-year-old’s last coaching role was at West Bromwich Albion in 2022.

The former Newcastle United manager was sacked by West Brom within eight months after a string of disappointing results, which saw the Championship side fall into the relegation zone.

Since then there has been very minimal reported interest for the services of Bruce, who boasts a two-decade-long managerial career.

However, according to The Daily Mail, the former United defender has recently held talks with officials of the Jamaican national team over becoming their new head coach.

Jamaica are in the market for a new gaffer after Heimir Hallgrimsson parted ways last month.

Since 1998, Bruce has managed 12 different sides, but the Jamaica job presents a shocking opportunity, to say the least, as he has never managed outside of England.

Further, should things progress as planned, this will be the Englishman’s first international managerial gig.

Having said that, should Bruce take up the role, he will be in charge of managing several familiar faces, as far as Premier League fans are concerned.

Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Bobby De Cordova-Reid (Leicester City), and Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) have all been regular fixtures in the Jamaica squad in recent times.
