Manchester United players, led by manager Erik ten Haag, wrote an open letter to the club’s fans, thanking them for supporting the team even in extreme circumstances.

This comes after United beat Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday in the FA Cup final.

First-half goals from Alejandro Garnach and Kobbi Mainoo eventually proved enough for United as they pulled off an incredible victory to claim silverware.

The Red Devils also qualified for the Europa League.

It was a much-needed positive finish to an extremely disappointing and dismal season.

Lisandro Martinez spoke to the media after the game against City and repeatedly described United’s fans as “incredible” before saying the players were motivated to secure a win as a thank you.

In a letter published on the club’s official website, the players wrote: “We all know this club is special. Yesterday’s game is another reminder of that. As we fought to win the FA Cup, the incredible atmosphere you created at Wembley helped us get over the line.”

“Everyone celebrating together was wonderful. Fans, staff, players — all united as one. Those memories will live with us forever. It was another reminder that with your support behind us, and the United badge on our chest, we can achieve great things. You can be sure that we take immense pride in representing our football club. This shared passion will drive us forward together, back to where this club belongs.”

“We know how much this club means to so many people – in Manchester and around the world. The support you’ve given us, even in times when we’ve fallen short of the standards we’ve set for ourselves, has been incredible.”

“We understand the sacrifices you must make to show this level of support. It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We know that this season in general was not good enough and we are not looking for excuses. But we ended it in the best possible way, celebrating the trophy together.”

“We want more days like yesterday. We are excited about the future here. We have so much to achieve together. We will fight to bring Manchester United the success that this special club deserves. Thank you for your unparalleled support.”

The letter was signed by members of the first team and Ten Haag.
