Manchester United’s attempts at recruiting a midfielder have not worked out thus far with the club struggling to move on their high-profile stars.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain but the Parisian outfit’s asking price has proved to be beyond the club.

The only way they can afford the Uruguayan is if they move on Casemiro but no club has come forward with an offer for the Brazilian, who looks to be staying as of now.

Scott McTominay is one of the most in-demand stars at the club currently with interest from within the Premier League as well as abroad.

McTominay in demand

Erik ten Hag is keen to keep a hold of the Scot but if any club puts forward a lucrative bid, the academy graduate could be moved on.

Fulham’s initial bid of £17 million was turned down and it was widely reported that the Cottagers were mulling over a fresh approach with the 20-time English league champions asking for a guaranteed £30 million.

Galatasaray were also interested and according to reports in Turkey, they have placed a derisory bid of €15 million, which has been promptly rejected.

However, the Scotsman remains at the top of their list and the Turkish giants are likely to go back for him again.

According to the report, if United’s valuation is not met by any club, they will allow McTominay to leave for a cut-price fee of €20 million, something that would fit very well with the Turkish side’s plans.

“Galatasaray has set aside a budget of €15-20 million for midfield transfers. The name at the top of the list is Scott McTominay.

Gala’s bid

“Galatasaray made an offer of €15 million to Manchester United. Manchester United wanted €30 million. If Manchester United does not receive the offers they want, they will allow McTominay to join Galatasaray for €20 million.”

McTominay is desperate to stay at his boyhood club and Ten Hag will be more than happy to keep him considering his clutch performances last term.

He had netted 10 times last term, and the player might not be too keen to join a Turkish side after his best-ever season in terms of goals scored.

United are also unlikely to sanction a cut-price exit for the midfielder. If he does leave, it is likely for some English side instead of Galatasaray unless they pay a premium.
