Manchester United are being linked with 18-year-old Celtic midfielder Daniel Kelly.

United have had their struggles this season, but they have also been a walking advertisement for the benefits of faith in youth.

The FA Cup Final was the perfect performance for two outstanding 19-year-olds, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho to cap off two fantastic seasons with a goal each to win the final against Manchester City.

United’s top scorer in all competitions was another youngster, 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund.

The incredible success of the all-conquering under-18 side and Ethan Wheatley becoming the 250th academy graduate to pull on a United senior shirt were two other feel-good factors surrounding the club in the spring.

INEOS has made it their mission to find top talent around the world and they have had some success of late with Australian James Overy and Silva Mexes joining the club this week.

United have also been heavily scouting English starlets such as Chris Rigg, Archie Gray and Baylee Dipepa.

The Glasgow World now reports that “Celt youngster Daniel Kelly is reportedly the subject of interest from English Premier League giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.”

“The 18-year-old midfielder has made six senior appearances to date after making his debut as a substitute in the 5-0 Scottish Cup fourth-round win over Buckeye Thistle in January. Kelly marked his league debut with an assist in the 7-1 demolition of Dundee just over a month later and is seen as a genuine prospect at Celtic Park.”

Kelly has just six months left on his current deal and could be pipped away from Celtic Park for just under £500,000 in training compensation.

However, it is thought that the youngster would prefer to stay at his “boys” club in order to maintain his development.

However, the Glasgow giants are only willing to offer the player three or four times less than clubs like United, so this could certainly open the door for the midfielder to leave.

His manager Brendan Rodgers described him as having an “incredible attitude” and he certainly looks like another interesting prospect for the Red Devils.
