Manchester United’s in-depth review of their troubled 2023/24 campaign could reportedly last longer than the anticipated one week.

It was recently announced that United will conduct a review of their season this week – the findings of which will determine Erik ten Hag’s fate as Red Devils boss.

Ten Hag still face an uncertain future at Old Trafford, despite masterminding a brilliant 2-1 win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

First-half goals from Alejandro Garnach and Kobbie Mainoo were enough to secure victory for United and secure silverware.

It was a relatively positive end to an extremely disappointing and dismal campaign that saw the Red Devils finish eighth in the Premier League.

United are believed to have identified potential replacements for Ten Hag as they prepare for life without the 54-year-old manager.

Some of the managers linked with the hot seat include Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Kieran McKenna, who is reportedly set to sign a new deal to stay at Ipswich Town.

Thanks to winning the FA Cup, internal support for Ten Hag in the top flight is increasing and there is still a chance for him to keep his job.

There is said to be sympathy for the United boss and the bad hand he has dealt him, such as injuries and other off-field matters.

According to The Daily Mail, the final decision on whether Ten Haag remains in the Old Trafford dugout could be delayed beyond this week.

Manchester United sources say there is no guarantee the end-of-season review will be completed this week.

“Ten Haag’s chances of keeping his job increased slightly as a result of Saturday’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley, which gave the Dutchman his second trophy in two seasons and secured United a place in the Europa League.”

“The Ineos co-owners are understood to be aware of the strong support among fans for Ten Haag to remain in charge for the third year of his contract, and have not ruled out keeping him.”

Amidst all this, Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy reveals that Ten Haag and those close to him are “annoyed” by the lack of communication and “personal and professional respect” from club bosses.

The clock is ticking and all eyes are on INEOS and which way of actions they choose.
