Manchester United started the new Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Fulham with the new signings impressing under the lights at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s new tactics means the team enjoyed a lot of possession which suited Casemiro, who struggled big time last season due to the manager’s high-transition style.

INEOS remain open to moving the Brazilian on even if the former Ajax coach wants to keep him and despite a strong start, it is clear that a new defensive midfield is required.

The former Real Madrid superstar cannot be relied upon for the whole campaign due to his advancing age and lack of pace with Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain the club’s top target.

Ugarte chase

The Red Devils failed to land the Uruguayan with their initial offer with the Ligue 1 outfit refusing to lower their asking price.

United eventually left the race but with Luis Enrique not planning for the upcoming season with the former Sporting Lisbon star, it is clear that PSG need to sell.

Their interest in Jadon Sancho means the 20-time English league champions now have the leverage needed to try and agree a deal more in line with their finances.

As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte is far from impressed with the Parisian club’s rigid stance and is pushing for an exit to Old Trafford.

He had agreed personal terms with the club long back and is tired of the whole saga and wants his current club to agree a fee soon so that he can restart his career in earnest.

Ugarte is tired of PSG’s antics

“We have to mention Ugarte. Man United and Paris Saint-Germain have been in touch almost the whole summer to discuss this Manuel Ugarte story,” Romano told Playback (via Givemesport).

“The real change of the last two or three days is that Manuel Ugarte has started pushing like crazy to go to Manchester United. What I’m hearing is that Ugarte is really tired of the situation.”

“It’s almost two months of waiting for Manchester United. Tired not with Man United, but tired with PSG, he wants to go. He wants to have this solution. He wants the club to find a way and he wants to go to Manchester United. Now it’s obviously up to the clubs to find a way.”

Whether it will be straight swap with Sancho heading the other way or if some other solution can be found remains to be seen. With tougher tests to come, United will hope to acquire the Montevideo-born star as soon as possible.
