Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Spanish side Getafe since joining the club at the start of the campaign.

So much so that the 22-year-old has now been voted the club’s player of the season.

Greenwood was an almost ever-present for Josรฉ Bordalas’ side, helping Getafe to finish 12th in La Liga.

United have scored double figures in all competitions, taking eight in the league and two in the Copa del Rey.

Greenwood has also contributed six assists in his 36 appearances, regularly impressing for his loan club.

The Englishman thanked fans for their support during his time in La Liga, but his statement suggests he will not be continuing with the Spanish side.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season, thanks for making me feel welcome and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, together with my teammates and the club.

Bittersweet ending (2-1 loss on final day) but it was a pleasure to play for you guys, I wish you all the best,โ€ said Greenwood.

His performances have attracted the interest of many leading clubs across Europe, with a number of them registering their interest in signing the player this summer.

Greenwood has not played for United since being charged in early 2022 with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

While the striker is unlikely to pull on the red shirt again, INEOS have advised that they will ‘take a fresh look’ at his situation.

The People’s Person recently passed the deadline for INEOS to make a decision on a player who could return to the first team if the transfer is not resolved by June 30.

With Greenwood’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, INEOS will be hoping to strike a deal to move the player this term with his stock now at an all-time high.
