Mason Mount revealed his thoughts on how things are going for himself and the rest of Manchester United during the team’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Having been heavily impacted by injuries last season, the English midfielder enjoyed an ample summer vacation given that he was one of the few United players to not appear on international duty.
Today, Mount shared his thoughts on the Red Devils’ pre-season tour while giving the lowdown on his and the team’s preparations for the new season in a tell-all interview.
“It’s always good to come out here, always good to see the fans that come out and support us over here, because they don’t get to see us often,” Mount told MUTV.
He added that he and his teammates make a point of taking more time to greet US fans and sign autographs as this is something they are not treated to often.
While Mount was grateful to receive a longer summer break than his teammates due to having not participated in Euro 2024, he was quick to note the importance of getting back into the swing of things. “Obviously you’re not taking too much time off because you’ve got to prepare for the season and got to be in the best position going into pre-season,” Mount explained.
In Mount’s mind, it appears that embarking on the US pre-season tour is an ideal way for United to shape up ahead of what is sure to be another busy season which includes European football.
While all eyes will be on United when they face Real Sociedad tomorrow, friendly matches are not the only way that Erik ten Hag’s team are preparing themselves for the next season. They also have the state-of-the-art UCLA training facility in California at their disposal during their stay; a facility that Mount views as being key to helping United complete their preparations for the new campaign.
“This is such an important time for us as a group, to put the work in, to work at a few different things we’re going into the season trying to do,” Mount explained. “We don’t normally get loads of time to prepare for games during the season. You have maybe a few days if you’re having two games a week.”
Importantly, Mount also gave a personal update on his own fitness following an injury-ridden season.
“This is a fresh start.” 👊

“I definitely feel this is a fresh start,” the midfielder explained. “And I’m in a really good position at the moment so I can’t wait to get on that pitch, can’t wait to try and do the best I can and yeah, I’m really looking forward to it. I feel strong, I feel fit, so yeah, we’ll keep going and we’ll keep working hard.”
After United face Sociedad, they’ll have one final test in the US against bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday before returning to Carrington, where they’ll prepare themselves to face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.
