ATXFC II earned a 1-1 draw against Rapids 2 last time out, with CJ Fodrey scoring his second MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season. Fodrey’s left-footed finish in the first half sparked a wonderful team move that also saw Micah Burton and Rubén Bonachera get involved.
The Verde & Black fared well against Portland in both games between the teams last year, winning twice without conceding a goal. The 4-0 win on June 18, 2023 is the biggest in the history of ATXFC II. Sébastien Pineau scored twice, and Sal Mazzaferro added another on the day.
Portland Timbers 2 Outlook
Portland currently sits in eighth place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference with 16 points from 12 games. However, the team is yet to pick up a win away from home, with three draws and two defeats – although Timbers 2 beat Vancouver Whitecaps 2 in a road penalty shootout on March 30.
Kyle Linhares was the best offensive player with three goals and four assists. Defenseman Sawyer Jura has also had a strong season. Portland has scored in each of its last five games, a streak the Verde & Black will be hoping to end.
