Austin FC drew 1-1 with LAFC on Wednesday night at Q2 Stadium, moving the team’s home record to 6-3-2 this season. Austin took an early lead in the 19thth minute with Jáder Obrian finding the net for the fifth time this season, assisted by captain Sebastián Driussi.

In a quick turnaround, Verde & Back turn their attention to Minnesota United FC this weekend for the first of a series of away games that close out the month of June. The two faced each other in the Austin 2024 home opener at Q2 Stadium in February, where Austin fell 2-1. Guilherme Biro scored in extra time to mark his debut with a goal in that game.

The Verde & Black will look to tie the score for the final game of the 2024 regular season against Minnesota. Last year, Austin picked up its biggest road win of the season against the Loons, triumphing 4-1 at Allianz Field.

Minnesota United FC Outlook

Minnesota United FC is currently sitting at 4thth place in the Western Conference, with an 8-5-5 record. Minnesota United is coming off a 5-3 win against FC Dallas on Wednesday night. The result was the second consecutive loss for the Loons, following their 2-0 loss against Seattle Sounders FC last Saturday.

The Loons had three different scorers against FC Dallas, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Hassani Dotson and Wil Trapp. Minnesota has been an offense by committee all season as six players have scored three or more goals. Now Oluwaseyi leads the way with seven, while Robin Lod has contributed five goals and 10 assists.

Minnesota United FC currently has a 4-1-4 record at home, with their only home loss coming against the Houston Dynamo in April. Austin will hand Minnesota its second home loss of the season to gain momentum for the second half of the season.
