Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with the Crystal Palace winger and Manchester United are reportedly targeting Michael Olise.
Olise has been heavily linked with United and is believed to be a prime target for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS in their efforts to strengthen the club’s attacking department.
Despite his 2023/24 season being ravaged by injuries, the Frenchman still put up some very impressive numbers. He scored 10 goals and six assists in 19 games in the Premier League.
United were treated to a glimpse of what Olise could bring to Old Trafford last month as Erik ten Hag’s men were hammered 4-0 at Selhurst Park. Olise in particular was sensational and ended his performance with brilliant equipment.
Unsurprisingly, the Red Devils are not the only party chasing him. Chelsea are also understood to be an admirer, with a previous report covered by The Peoples Person claiming that the Blues were “bullish” about their prospects of snapping him up ahead of their rivals.
Chelsea, of course, tried to sign Olise last summer but failed as the player signed a new contract to extend his stay with the Eagles.
It is increasingly certain that a move could happen in the coming period, and Chelsea are determined not to miss out on his services this summer.
According to GIVEMESPORT, the Stamford Bridge side have made a significant move towards United’s move for the 22-year-old.
The publication reports: “Chelsea have now agreed personal terms with Crystal Palace striker Michael Olise and will now discuss planning a payment for his release clause, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.”
“Sources have confirmed to GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea have verbally agreed personal terms with Olise after doing the same last summer. It is understood that Chelsea are now in talks with Crystal Palace regarding a payment schedule for his release clause as they seek to secure his signature.”
“A deal is not yet close but it is a big step forward for the west London side as they look to bring Olise to Stamford Bridge.”
GIVEMESPORT adds that Olise has not officially signed anything, but that there is now a verbal agreement between the two parties.
Teams other than United and Chelsea could also enter the fray for the Frenchman in the coming weeks.
If United really want to add Olise to their ranks, then they need to wake up and move with speed so that they are not overtaken by Chelsea.
