Inter Miami and FC Cincinnati, MLS’s top two teams, both lost at home on Wednesday.

What made the losses so surprising was that they were to teams that have been struggling.

• Inter Miami 1 Atlanta United 3: Atlanta United ended a nine-game winless streak, getting two goals from Saba Lobjanidze and an insurance goal from Jamal Thiaré after Lionel Messi had reduced Atlanta’s lead to 2-1 in the 62nd minute.

• FC Cincinnati 0 Nashville 2: Nashville SC ended FC Cincinnati’s seven-game winning streak, getting goals from Jack Maher and Jacob Shaffelburg to give interim head coach Rumba Munthali his first career victory after two ties.
