Without a managerial oversight at the Haas team which led to both its cars being disqualified from qualifying, the Monaco Grand Prix would have been an entirely different race from the one which played out.

The red flagging of the race after an enormous accident on the opening lap between the Haas of Kevin Magnussen and the Red Bull of Sergio Perez – which also took out the other Haas of Nico Hulkenberg – led to a sequence of events which produced a remarkable stalemate of a race, one which was led all the way from pole position by Charles Leclerc. In fact, all top 10 qualifiers crossed the line still in grid order after 78 laps.
