Messi talks about retirement fears at Inter Miami 🏆
Yesterday, Lionel Messi shared some candid insights into his career and the inevitable thought of hanging up his boots. The legendary Argentine striker, who now plays for Inter Miami, believes this will be his last stop before retiring from club football. During an interview on SportsCenter, he said: “Yes, right now, I believe Inter Miami will be my last club.”
Clearly, the idea of walking away from the game evokes a mix of emotions. “I’ve been playing football all my life; the thought that it will end is always lurking around,” admitted Messi. He talked about how moving to the US and winning the World Cup changed his outlook. “It’s hard to think about the end, but I’ve learned to enjoy the moments more because I know they won’t last forever,” he added.
Messi also highlighted the joy he finds in the camaraderie at club and national team, cherishing the “small details” he will miss when he is no longer playing.
Although he hesitated briefly when pressed on whether Inter Miami would indeed be his last club, he confirmed: “Yes, I think so. Right now, it will be my last club.”
While fans may start to feel nervous about his remarks, Messi is currently focusing on the Copa América with Argentina, aiming to defend their title. The tournament begins on June 20 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where Argentina will play Canada.
