“Unfortunately, in the first half of the race, in the first half and then in the first half of the second stint, we weren’t strong enough when there was still a lot of fuel in the car. I was struggling for control and then balance, and we weren’t fast enough in that part of the race.
“The VSC wasn’t great but then, the Safety Car later, we switched with two stops and that put us back on the map, a couple of good races later. I actually enjoyed the race, I don’t think we could have done anything differently or better, so here we are.”

Asked if he felt like momentum was building at Haas, given his string of finishes early in the season, he added: “There’s definitely some, for sure.
“At Imola we’ll get a few more improvements to complete the kind of package we’ve been building since Shanghai, so hopefully they can get us a bit ahead again and put us a bit closer to the RBs, because they look really strong at the moment.”
