Nimfasha Berchimas, who starred for the USA at the 2023 Under-17 World Cup and has played three MLS games this season, scored in stoppage time to give Charlotte FC a 2-1 win over LAFC in the under-17 semifinals at the MLS Next Cup.

Charlotte FC, which recalled Berchimas for the semifinals, will face the LA Galaxy in Sunday’s final at GEODIS Park in Nashville. The Galaxy, the 2023 U-17 MLS Next Cup champion, gained revenge for its shootout loss to the Philadelphia Union in the 2024 Generation adidas Cup final with a shootout win of its own over the Union in Friday’s first semifinal.

Ruben Ramos Jr., who made his MLS debut for the Galaxy on June 15, scored in the 90th minute to even the match at 2-2. Mason Vanney, son of Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney, scored the opening goal. Anisse Saidi and Neil Pierre, both U.S. youth internationals, scored in the second half for the Union.
