England international Jadon Sancho has officially left Manchester United to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Hours before the close of the transfer window, it emerged that United and Chelsea reached a loan agreement that would see Sancho complete a switch to Stamford Bridge.

It was stated that the deal included an obligation to buy the player at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 season.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United stand to net £25m (£20m fixed fee plus £5m in variables] from permanently parting ways with Sancho.

The 24-year-old has now been confirmed as the latest addition to Enzo Maresca’s ranks.

Juventus came in for Sancho a few days before deadline day but the winger’s preference was Chelsea when he heard about the club’s interest.

Sancho very publicly fell out with Erik ten Hag last season and ended up being loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January.

He helped the Bundesliga giants reach the Champions League final, where they lost to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

Chelsea are understood to have been long-term admirers of Sancho, with Joe Shields – the London outfit’s co-director of recruitment and talent – the man who helped engineer the winger’s move to Manchester City in 2015.

While at City, Shields worked as the club’s academy scouting manager. He mainly covered the south of the country and this is where he unearthed Sancho.

Throughout his three-year spell at Old Trafford, Sancho only showed glimpses of his talent, which prompted the Red Devils to fork out £73million to land him.

In the 83 appearances he made for United, Sancho contributed just 12 goals – undoubtedly a poor return.
