Manchester United have confirmed that new signing Leny Yoro successfully underwent surgery on his injury.
United made a major statement of intent last month as they fended off stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool to land Yoro.
The highly-rated teenage defensive prospect made his debut for the Red Devils in a pre-season friendly against Rangers and produced a sensational performance to show supporters why the club went above and beyond to secure his signature.
He demonstrated great ability on the ball and incredible calm and composure even when under pressure. Yoro’s defensive acumen and reading of the game were also evident.
However, his progress was hampered after he sustained an injury during a clash vs. Arsenal at SoFi Stadium.
United later relayed that Yoro had picked up a foot injury that would rule him out of action for three months.
United have now provided an update on the 18-year-old via a statement issued on the club’s official website.
“Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has today had a successful surgery on his foot injury.”
“Our summer signing from Lille sustained the injury during the team’s recent friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles, USA.”
“Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months.”
Earlier on Monday, a report covered by The Peoples Person divulged that United attempted to keep the extent of Yoro’s injury under wraps as they continued to pursue their other defensive targets.
United remain in talks with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and the 20-time English champions were wary of seeing their bargaining position weaken due to the significant setback suffered by Yoro.
